Hillside Winery

1. The Journey Begins

Tuscany, meet the Smokies.

Hillside Winery pours Italian-style and sparkling wines in Sevierville, Tennessee, nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains along the Rocky Top Wine Trail. Their promise is a happy one: “We bring the vineyards of Tuscany to the Great Smoky Mountains!”

The brief was just as joyful. Hillside wanted a whimsical website with a lot of movement, one that would show the countryside in an artistic, painted way. We designed it to feel like a watercolor that comes to life as you scroll, with soft hills, drifting butterflies, and wine bottles that seem to float off the page.

2. The Palette

Painted. Playful. Pastoral.

The palette is pulled from the art itself: sunlit parchment and cream, a blush of evening sky, monarch orange, lavender wings, and the soft greens of the vines. Bold black type keeps it grounded, the way a wine label frames its painting.

3. The Cellar

Every bottle takes flight.

Each Hillside label carries a hand-painted butterfly resting on a flower, so the wines became the stars of the story. As you scroll, the bottles rise into view one by one while the vines grow down the page around them.

Alongside favorites like Pink Moscato and Butterfly Kisses, the site shines a light on the best-selling Black and Blue and the award-winning Hillside Mist.

4. Creative Direction

A painting that moves.

Instead of photographs and boxes, the site is built from watercolor: rolling hills that frame the headline, vines and wildflowers that lead the eye, and butterflies that flutter between sections like a guide through the valley.

Every section is a scene in the same painting, so visitors wander from a first look at the valley to booking a tasting without ever leaving the countryside.

5. Mobile-Ready

Pocket-sized Tuscany.

Most visitors plan their wine trail day on a phone, often from the car or a cabin porch. On small screens the painting simplifies into one clear column: the hero stays bold, the bottles line up for easy browsing, and tasting details, directions, and the wine club are a thumb’s reach away.
